Who is this visa for?
If you are looking to visit Australia for a short stay, then depending on your country of passport, and whether your visit is business or holiday, you may have several Visitor visa options available to you.
Generally speaking, Australian Tourist visas require you to satisfy the following requirements:
• Have a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia
• Have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in the country
• Can meet any health and character requirements
ETA: an Electronically Tourist Authority (ETA) allows visitors of certain passport holders to visit Australia for personal or business purposes for up to 3 months. Importantly, applicants must be outside of Australia at the time of making the application.
eVisitor: a eVisitor visa is an electronically stored authority which allows visitors from the European Union and a number of other European countries to visit Australia for personal and business purposes for up to 3 months. Similarly the ETA discussed above, visa applicants must be outside of Australia at the time of making the application.
Visitor: a Visitor (Subclass 600) visa is a temporary Visitor visa that is generally granted for stays of 3, 6 or 12 months. Importantly, this visa can be applied for from within or outside Australia with certain applicants eligible to make an online application (e600).
Depending on your country of passport and whether you are in, or outside of Australia, will determine which Visitor visa best fits your circumstances.
